Founded in 2013, under the support and direction of Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, FL, the program took on the challenge to create a platform to aid new artists desiring professional traction in the area – specifically those venturing in contemporary media and content. The one day art festival grew to include locally established artists, art organizations, colleges, galleries and grass root art movements. In 2017, Art Crawl’s founder, Ellen Chastain gained permission to file the event as its own non-profit organization. Today, Chastain is leading the event through a volunteer board comprised of professional art educators, artists and advocates to continue providing one of the area’s best platforms for encouraging artists and their counterparts.
Art Crawl is proud to remain supported and endorsed by Polk Museum of Art in addition to area businesses and other organizations sharing the vision. Together, we believe we can make a difference in the community at large…building relationships with artists, art organizations, sponsors and the community to bring about awareness, support and collaboration for the arts.
